Playing roulette has never been easy. As we all know, it’s primarily a game of luck. However, with an excellent guide, you will learn some tactics you need to play the game like a pro. At Betiton, we have a detailed roulette guide with great tips to get you started. Many players have found it useful to improve their roulette skills.

The Rules Of Roulette

Here are some of the basic roulette rules. Players can place a bet up until the dealer closes the session. Only the dealer has the right to pay the winner and also to touch the chips belonging to players who lost. During a playing session, neither the player or dealer should touch the marker of the winning number.

How to Play Roulette

Whether you’re playing on a European, American or French wheel, the gameplay is always the same. There is a table with numbers and sections where you can place your bet. Players place their bets, then the dealer spins the wheel and throws a ball. The winning number is where the ball lands. Keep reading to find out more about how to play roulette.

American Roulette

American Roulette has various similarities with European Roulette and French Roulette. However, it has a large table and wheel, including an additional number: 00. This gives the players additional areas to place their bets in online roulette (38 places). As a result, the house edge increases to 5.26, which is a bit higher compared to the other versions in the market.

European Roulette

As the name suggests, European roulette originates from Europe. Its table has a total of thirty-seven numbers, which range from zero up to thirty-six. As a result, the version has a reduced number of betting places. This makes the house edge of the game 2.63%, which is considered fair when compared to other versions, such as American Roulette.

French Roulette

French Roulette tables are designed with 37 betting places (pockets). The zero pockets are green, while the rest alternate black or red. The “le partage” rule divides a bet in two if a player makes an even-money outside bet and 0 wins. The player keeps 50% of the bet, while the other 50% is given to the house. This makes the house edge 1.35%.

Roulette Strategy

Roulette games rely mostly on luck rather than strategy. However, there are different strategies you can employ to reduce the house edge of your game. Strategies depend on the variation of the game you wish to play. Mastering a roulette strategy is good if you want to become a pro. At Betiton, we have different strategies to help you out.

Roulette Payouts

Payout means the amount of money, in relation to the bet you placed, that you receive after winning a bet. Roulette payouts are simple. The odds of this game are stated in the form of x to 1. This means that you will get x amount of euros as a reward for every €1 you place as a bet.

Roulette Odds

Odds enable a player to know their probability of betting on the winning pocket in relation to the number of pockets available. A table with fewer betting pockets means a higher probability of winning a game. For example, American roulette has 38 pockets (0, 00, 1 to 36). The probability of hitting a single number is 37 to 1.

Tips To Play Roulette Like A Pro

Here are some tips to help you out in roulette. Practice – for you to understand the game, you have to take time and practice. Use Betiton’s demo version to gain knowledge. Know you can’t beat roulette in the long run – understand it is a game of chance and maximise on the hot streaks, then quit the game when the luck turns against your favour.

Roulette Simulator

After land-based casinos became less popular due to competition from online games, people began to miss the thrill of a physical casino. As a result, simulators and live games were developed to recreate those exciting moments. At Betiton, we have a roulette simulator guaranteed to send you back to the old days. You’ll experience the dealer throwing the ball and everything happening in real-time.

Free Roulette

Unlike brick-and-mortar casinos where there is no room for practice, free roulette allows you to learn the craft without paying fees. You can bet as many times as you like without fear of exceeding your budget. With consistent practice, you will be able to place bets, understand the odds and payoffs of the three types of roulette, and play with confidence.

Inside Bets

Placing an inside bet will reward you more than an outside one, and you will get a higher payout, but you must follow the roulette rules. Inside bets require you to bet on pocket numbers or a small range of pockets based on the proximity of the layout. Some casinos use different coloured chips to differentiate between inside and outside bets.

Split bet

Roulette bets placed on the numerical combinations and forms outside the number board are named as outside bets. You can choose Red/Black, Even/Odd, Low/High, Column, Dozen, 19-36 and 1-18 outside bets to play the game. Outside bets have moderately higher chances to win than inside bets. The table coverage of Even/Odd bets is almost 47.4% for American Roulette.

Straight/Single Bets

In this betting style, the player has to place his/her wager on a single number. You will win if the ball stops on the same digit on which you have placed the bet. The chip is positioned entirely within the square of the chosen number. The payout is 35 to 1, which means you will get 35 times your original bet.

Street bet

In this type of bet, you can bet on three adjacent numbers in the same row. The chip or wager will be placed on the outer edge of the amount at either end of the line. The payout is 11 to 1, which means you will get 11 units plus your original bet. The odds for this are 11⅓ to 1.

Odd/Even Bet

Odd and Even bet takes place on either all of the odd numbers or all of the even numbers. It is good to know that 0 and 00 slots do not belong to either odd or even bets. In case your bet on them and the ball lands on either, you will not win unless you are playing on French roulette.

Column bet

It is a special type of bet where the number to place your bet is chosen from 12 numbers aligned in a vertical column. An example of the column is 1-4-7-10 on down to 34. The player places a chip on the space which is available below the final number (Maintaining this sequence). A column bet is mainly an outside bet.

Neighbors Bets

Includes 5 numbers. A player will choose the number he wants to use, and he will include that number together with two numbers on each side of it on the Roulette wheel. So, for example, if you wanted to play “zero and the neighbors”, your bet would include the two numbers on each side, so it would cover (3, 26, 0, 32 and 15).

Basket Bet

Basket Bet allows a player to bet five numbers in a single chip. You can bet on 00, 0, 1, 2 and 3 all in one chip and at the same time. The bet is designed to be placed on the American wheel (presence of 00). The house edge of Basket Bet is 7.89%, which makes the game less popular.

Call Bet

This type of bet is played on the French and European table versions and is not applicable to American roulette. Instead of the player placing their money on the table, the dealer calls out (announcing bets) the bet. In “call bet”, you are allowed to play with money or on credit. However, it is illegal to play “Call Bet” in some countries.

Snake Bet

The snake bet involves a player placing 12 straight numbers on an “S” shaped snake-like line of bets. All the numbers involved here are of the same unit. The bet will stretch on the whole number board, with bets placed only on red sectors. The bet has a house edge of 2.70% and 5.26% on the European and American versions respectively.

Double Street Bet

The Double Street Bet is similar to the “street bet”, except that it requires a player to place a bet on two rows of numbers, with a total of six numbers. The bet has a payout of 5:1. The odds on American roulette are 16.22%, while those on the European version are 15.79%. This bet is not available in the French version.

La Partage Bet

This is a special type of bet available only on French roulette. It enables the player to retain 50% of the original money they had wagered on either odd or even numbers if the ball stops at pocket zero. The La Partage bet brings the house advantage to 1.3%. As a result, the game is more popular with players who play for profit.
